Corrections Policy
Our Commitment
The Open Knowledge takes accuracy seriously. When factual errors are identified — whether by our own team or brought to our attention by readers — we correct them promptly, transparently, and without obfuscation.
How Corrections Are Made
- Factual errors are corrected within the post, with a correction notice appended
- The correction note states what was wrong and what the correct information is
- The date of the correction is recorded
- For serious errors, a prominent correction may be published separately
- We do not materially alter post titles or text without a corresponding correction notice
Reporting an Error
If you believe we have published inaccurate or misleading information, please contact our corrections desk. Provide as much detail as possible, including the post in question, the specific error, and any supporting evidence.
We record material corrections on the post itself, including the date and a plain-language description of what changed.
Clarifications and Updates
Where a subject develops after initial publication, we update posts to reflect new information. Updates are clearly marked with the date of revision. This is distinct from corrections to errors.
